Thanks, Frank. I think we all want the shiny things because then we can show them off to someone else. I know I'm guilty of that.

Thanks, Nancy. It's just as much a reminder to me as to anyone else. It's certainly something I needed to hear.

Good stuff, Clay. It's depressing how easily I settle into wanting a shiny new thing from God instead of wanting God Himself.

beautifully said, thanks for the reminder, it's so easy to slip into the "I want an IPad, flat screen TV, nicer car, bigger house etc. I do pray everyday for the gifts that I now have that have not had in the past.

Therein lies the difficulty doesn't it? Are we so accustomed to comfort that we can't become uncomfortable? Do we even want to become uncomfortable? I do believe that part of it has to come back to the expectations we have as a body of believers. Do we expect to come on Sunday mornings and consume, or do we expect to serve?

Good post and I agree... But if we're all accustomed to convenience (and we in the States certainly are), how do we "do church" in a way that combats that and points us past ourselves and our own preferences?

Thanks, Mom!

I honestly don't pay her to comment. Not that I'd admit anyway.
